Wheel clamping at KLIA2
I am no stranger to KLIA2 (Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2). I have been here few times already, whether as a passenger myself, or sending and picking up loved ones.
There are things that I love (and hate) about this new airport. But, the loves definitely outweigh the hates.
The thing that I love most: it eradicates the ‘third world’ feeling I have, back in the old Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT). LCCT was like a Pudu Bus Station, for planes. For the uninitiated, Pudu Bus Station used to be Kuala Lumpur’s main bus terminal, used for long-distance intercity travel.
Also, at KLIA2, there is ample parking space. I guess, they have too much space now, so much so, that there are plenty of spaces for shops, restaurants, and parking. Well, at least parking facility is not an afterthought.
Despite that, I witnessed rampant illegal parking at KLIA2. These cars were not parked at designated parking bays, but illegally, to be as close to entrance.
World-class airport, but third-world mentality.
It gives foreigners a bad first impression of our country, which starts at the airport.

I saw many cars wheel-clamped at KLIa2; your car will be clamped for sure, with the ‘possibility’ of being fined. I used ‘possibility’, because I have not experienced it myself. A penalty of RM100.00 is imposed upon release of the clamp.
Please park at designated bays. You have been warned.

Update March 2017: I also noticed cars being clamped for ‘safety reason’, and this is a free service. According to what I read here, the security guard will clamp your car if you park there for few days. In fact, you can even request for this free service .. anyone care to share their experience?
Update September 2017: According to staff at KLIA2’s parking office, cars will be clamped if you park more than 5 days. If your cars are clamped, just call staff on the phone number indicated on the windshield notice. I was told that it’ll take them within 5 minutes to come to your car, to remove the wheel clamp.

The parking office at Block A is open 24 hours, but the parking office at Block B is not.

If the office at Block B is closed, just walk across to Block A through Gateway, the mall situated between the drop-off area and klia2 terminal.
May I know how to request for clamping my car for parking 6 days? Is there any procedure? Would like to see my car clamp before on board.
Hi Jason,
Suggest go to their Parking office and speak to the staff
