How To Get To Decathlon In Thailand
If you are into (affordable quality) sporting goods, then Decathlon is THE place for you. I first made acquaintances with Decathlon in Malaysia here. After reading that Decathlon made their first foray in the Southeast Asia (SEA) region in Thailand, I wanted to check out their store in the Kingdom. I assumed that they have more choices in Thailand, since it was their first SEA market with 9 stores opened.
Which Store?
In Bangkok itself, there are few stores, but none with close MRT/BTS access.

Their Bangna store could be the best option for those that would like to rely on public transportation.

Their store is located at Tesco Lotus Bangna-Trad road, opposite Mega Bangna, but separated by the Bang Na Expressway. Geographically, it is not located in Bangkok, but at Samut Prakan province.
Getting There: to Megabangna
All you need to do is to get to BTS Udom Suk (E12).
From there, you can continue with taxi for another 10-15 minutes. Or you can make use of IKEA’s free shuttle bus from BTS Udom Suk to Megabangna, and walk for approximately 10-15 minutes to Tesco Lotus.

At BTS Udom Suk, take Exit 5 for the Shuttle Bus Service to Megabangna.

At the end of the stairs, make an U-turn and wait in front of 7-Eleven.

Many people use the shuttle service, and the bus is usually full.

There is also free shuttle service to CentralPlaza Bangna; make sure you board the right bus.

From Megabangna, the drop-off point at BTS Udom Suk is at the opposite side of the road, in front of Honda showroom. Some people also board the bus here, possibly to secure a seat. The bus will then follow the route map and head back to the pick-up point in front of 7-Eleven.
The bus comes at 15-20 minutes interval, and here is the bus schedule. The journey from BTS Udom Suk to Megabangna takes approx 15 minutes. The return journey takes longer 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic and also because of the need to pick up at Ikea.

Here are the bus pick-up points. Despite indicating that there are no other stops apart from designated points, the bus did stopped once along the way to pick up some passengers.

There are two stops at Megabangna, and most people board and alight at Megabangna’s Transport Hub at Green Zone. The second stop is near Ikea.
Getting There: to Decathlon

At Megabangna, just follow the ‘Pedestrian Bridge/Fitness First‘ directional signage at Yellow Zone, and look for a pedestrian bridge (saphan loy สะพานลอย) next to Fitness First.

From the starting of the bridge, the walk is around 5 minutes until the end of the bridge + another 5 minutes along the road to Tesco Lotus. No proper pathway for pedestrians, so do be careful.

You’ll be able to see Tesco Lotus from the bridge.
Product Varieties

More or less they offer same product offerings like Decathlon Malaysia.

But in Thailand, they carry Dancing category, specifically Ballet product range under Domyos brand. The goods are dirt cheap. Example, 249-299 baht for ballet cardigan, usually selling at more than RM 100 back in Malaysia. Some of the ballet leotards were selling as cheap as 199 baht.
Things To Note

Just like in Malaysia’s store, they do not provide plastic bags and no shopping bag is given for purchase of five items and above. You can pay for the plastic bags though.

They also ask for phone number, for them to contact customers in case of product recall.
Exchange of product was done easily without any questions asked.

Most of the product info is in Thai language; lack of product information in English.
Happy shopping!
Thank you very much for all of detilal,
Hi Apple,
You are welcome 🙂
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this!! Incredibly helpful. We can’t wait to go shopping!! I saw that there are a few Decathlons in BKK, do you happen to know if they all have the same sports items? We will probably go straight from DonMuang airport, any recommendations for the bet store?
Hi Evelien,
You’re most welcome, and glad that you find the article useful!
There are 7 Decathlon stores in Bangkok – Laksi’s store is the closest, 21 mins/10.4km from Don Mueang Int’l Airport by car, accord to Google Map. But Laksi District is not in the town centre .. you might want to go to one closer to Bangkok downtown/close to your accommodation. I checked with Decathlon previously whether Rama IV branch carries Dancing / Ballet product range – and was informed that they do not. So, if there’s any specific category that you want, do check with them via FB messenger https://www.facebook.com/decathlonthailand/
Hope this helps.
