Babyccino Ekkamai: A Bright, Green Oasis with Surprisingly Excellent Vegetarian Food

With so many dining options in Bangkok, discovering a true gem is always a treat. When searching for a spot in Ekkamai that could comfortably accommodate my group, I stumbled upon Babyccino at Ekkamai 12. As they describe themselves: “Founded in 2020, Babyccino successfully combines the elegance of a contemporary cafe with the casual nature of a neighborhood eatery. Part café and part casual dining resto, it is a light-filled space perfect for an early morning coffee, a long lunch of shared dishes, or even a fun and joyful evening.”

Arriving around 11:30 AM, we managed to secure a table without a wait, though the restaurant quickly filled and was packed during the peak lunch rush.

Ambiance: Greenery and International Flair

The walk-in experience is immediately pleasant, defined by the abundant greenery belonging to the spa located beside the café. A polite sign reminds patrons to keep noise down out of respect for the spa’s customers. The café itself is wonderfully bright, thanks to the floor-to-ceiling glass, creating a serene, green oasis.

The clientele at the Ekkamai branch was notably international, with a majority of foreigners. This is likely helped by the fact that the staff speaks English fluently, and the menu is provided in both English and Thai.

A Meat-Free Feast & Standout Dishes

Dining with vegetarian companions gave me the perfect excuse to explore Babyccino’s meat-free offerings, and they are excellent—a welcome change from the “afterthought” vegetarian dishes often found in Bangkok. The quality and inventiveness here are clear.

We were happy with every dish:

  • Truffle Mushroom Ravioli (350 baht): This dish features mushroom-stuffed ravioli and morel mushrooms in a rich truffle cream sauce. My niece commented on the unusually large size of the three pieces of ravioli, proving that this traditionally small serving can still be substantial.
  • Miso Glazed Cauliflower (350 baht): This dish was a revelation! It combines miso cauliflower, kale, and quinoa, served with a delicious pesto and parsley dressing. We loved it so much it has become an inspiration for replicating at home.
  • Açai Blueberry Bowl (290 baht): This bowl comes with banana, blueberry, and the rare treat of housemade vegan granola and sugar-free blueberry jam. It’s low in sugar and contains no artificial colors—a great guilt-free option that made my niece very happy.

The Unforgettable Dessert (and Price Check)

The meal concluded on a high note with the dessert. The Miso Caramel Banoffee Tart (180 baht) is truly delicious, easily ranking among the best banoffee tarts I’ve ever had.

Our final bill, including the food listed above and one drink, came to a total of 1,554 baht (including service charge and VAT). Considering the quality of the ingredients, the atmosphere, and the quick, friendly service, we felt the price was well justified. Two thumbs up!

Verdict & Other Locations

While Babyccino has other, more accessible locations like those in Siam Discovery and Mahanakhon Cube, I highly recommend the Ekkamai branch. Its bright, green, peaceful atmosphere and glass structure make it a particularly charming spot.

Not Your Typical Tourist

Travel opens up a whole new world, which is cliche but true. I am a strong advocate for independent and solo travel. I was born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia but now live in Bangkok, Thailand, resulted from a chance encounter in 2009 with my why-are-you-Thai bf. I am now split between two countries. One country for my bf, another for the family, for the occasional weekend together.
