Bucket List Ticked – Claypot Crab Rice at Restaurant Siu Siu
Claypot crab rice, that was my first meal back in KL, after an absence of 3 months.
At the restaurant, no menu was given to us. How to order lah. Ordering without menu, shows that one is a true food connoisseur, my friend says. I nearly forgotten the challenges that I usually face at Chinese-Chinese restaurants, being a non-Chinese literate, Chinese.
The restaurant manager gave us his recommendations, and we decide from there. By the way, there is menu on board, all-Chinese-no-English … what a typical Chinese restaurant! *breakintoacoldsweat*
Our orders:
Claypot crab rice (RM 76). I wasn’t blown away, it was just alright. I felt that it was more of a claypot rice and stir-fried crab in some sort of caramelised-sauce. I actually prefer my usual, humble claypot chicken rice more. One try is enough.
Stir-fried squid with salted egg yolk (RM 15). I like this dish the most! Salted egg yolk-dishes never fail, agree?
Ching long / Green dragon vegetable (RM 15). Good dish, but it’s priced the same as a squid dish. Is ching long vege that expensive?
Char siew – barbecued pork (RM 12). Siu siu is well known for their char siew dish, I was told. It’s good lah, for porky-lover. I immediately think about Ah Meng and Aaron.
Total bill: RM 124 for a pax of 3.
Their 2016 CNY operation dates as per photo above, do take note if you are planning a visit soon.
