Siam Orchid Center, Plant Market At Or Tor Kor
Siam Orchid Center (ตลาดกล้วยไม้), a name that I wasn’t familiar with, despite having been there for so many times.

We usually refer to it as ‘the plant market at Or Tor Kor.’ For the sake of this blog post, I finally checked the official name of this green place.
This Orchid and Decorative Plant and Flower Market, is part of the Or Tor Kor market. It was created to act as a meeting place for buying and selling these items, and also as a central distribution point for both producers and consumers.
We have been coming here more often, ever since D started his ‘plant project‘ at our condo. It’s worth a visit, if you have a soft spot for plants.

Update July 2016: A seller told me that operating hours are from 9am-5pm, daily. But some of the shops open before 9am, from 7-8am onwards.

orchid Center
Update May 2017: Take the MRT to Kamphaeng Phet station, exit #3. You’ll reach Or Tor Kor Market – Siam Orchid Center is towards the right side of Or Tor Kor market, after open-air car park.
Address: Kamphaeng Phet Rd. (Near Or Tor Kor Market), Chatuchak, Bangkok 10900
Can I know the opening hours for the siam orchids market? Is it only on weekdays?
Hi Edmund, It is also open on weekends. I am not exactly sure of the opening hours. When I was there around 8am+, some of the stalls were already open … It is safe to be there around 10am or so. Closing time, I am pretty sure they will be open until 5-6pm (or later).
Hi I like join with you.. I am chatura. I am sri lankan.how Buy orchid plants from you. Can you send your product. And please tell you price.
Hi Chatura,
I am not an orchid plant seller, so afraid can’t help you here. I was merely writing about my experience at Siam Orchid Center, as a visitor.
Good luck!
Can you share the address so I can map it out and tell my cousin who is on visit to Bangkok.
Hi Tariq, I’ve updated the blog post with the info you needed – trust this is sufficient for your cousin. Cheers
Greatly appreciate it. Just one more thing. It seems like you haven’t “tagged” your blog posts properly. When I search for “Orchid” only the Siam Center post shows up, when in fact you have at least three posts that I have come across that are related to Orchids.
Your post helped me discover how to get in touch with the people who would prepare orchid flask.
Thank you.
Hi Tariq,
Thanks … well I guess it was never meant to be an orchid-specific blog post 🙂 I’ll tag it accordingly, since it comes useful as you said. And appreciate your kind words .. thanks heaps.
Hi, thank you for your very informative blog. I am interested in buying orchid plants and read somewhere that not Wednesday and Thursday or plant days. Would you know if that is correct? I am planning my Bangkok visit around buying the plants.
Hi Ta Ta,
You’re welcome.
The Siam Orchid Center at Or Tor Kor Market is open everyday.
The Chatuchak Plant Market is open on Wed & Thurs.
Hope this helps.
Yes, thank you again. It was so difficult to get the I formation I needed.
No worries, Ta Ta …
Hi Ta Ta
I went to the Chatuchak Plant Market today (Wed). I was told that set-up starts on Tuesday afternoon, and will open until late evening on that day. Wed & Thurs business hours around 9am-6pm.
I’ll upload some photos in a separate blog post soon.
Hope this helps.
No Wonder!!! I had my cousin in Bangkok. I stopped him from going there Tuesday. I asked him to go there Wednesday and he got there after 6.30 and the main market was already closed!
But he managed to get some great deals outside of the market anyways.
Thanks for this important bit of information. Next time 🙂
I’ll look forward to seeing the photos, thanks. It seems the best bet is Siam Orchid Center if I don’t have the option of choosing my day. I am trying to look for more unusual orchid plants.
Thank you, and Tariq also. I will keep it in mind when I go to Bangkok. I’m only an amateur gardener without a very green thumb and have limited space. I am basically looking for a couple of interesting Dendrobium nobile type of hybrid plants. I am not quite up to buying plantlets in flasks yet!
There are spots of plant nursery farms in different places. One such place is call 14 Rival. It is on the way to Pattaya. Supposedly a lot of plant nurseries there (someone quoted hundreds). Worth taking a trip. People from plant nurseries in Karachi that go to Thailand told me about it.
I will try to upload pics. Nothing unusual, just 2 flowering and 3 seedlings of vandaceous plants. Look like Vanda crosses or something.
How do I upload pictures?
Here is a link to my fb post
Hi Tariq,
This is amazing, thank for sharing the info with Ta Ta ..
I am afraid that you’ll not be able to upload photos via my blog … but if Ta Ta would like to connect with you, I shall be able to connect both of you via email address exchange.
