150 RMB shower at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport

The Hourly Charges Passenger Lounge 旅客计的休息室 at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is a heaven-sent for budget-conscious travelers in need of shower facility or short rest.

There are two types of room – business class (for 1 pax) and first class (for 2 pax), with minimum charge of three hours. From photo, the bed in first class room doesn’t look any bigger than business class; it is best booking 2 rooms to get a good rest. Charges are per room basis. We (two pax) managed to negotiate using the business class room, explaining that we only want to use their shower facility. So we paid 150 RMB/750 THB, with 100 RMB cash deposit. We were given small (face) towel to be returned when we check out.

It was a tiny windowless room (3-5m²), but good enough as we take turn to use the shower facility. We were given two key cards, which serves as key card for both the room and shower facility – one each for the female and male shower. Inside the room, there’s a pair of slipper provided, with charging points and good aircond.

There are three shower cubicles with hairdryer and shower gel/shampoo provided. No toilet inside the shower room. Clean facility, two thumbs up. 150 RMB-well spent for a refreshing hot shower after a long day in the city after our hotel check, before our midnight flight back to Bangkok.

We arrived around 7:30 pm and there were plenty of empty rooms. Since there are 70 room of 12 first class and 58 business class rooms, pre-booking might not be necessary. First class room is after Business class, closer to the shower facility.

As the lounge is located along the walkway to P3 parking garage, it’s not a conducive environment to zzz with people talking and trolley bag-dragging sound – do bring along earplug if you do book it for that few hours of rest. Other landmarks include walking towards A Area arrival. This website has a good -1F floor map.

Not Your Typical Tourist

Travel opens up a whole new world, which is cliche but true. I am a strong advocate for independent and solo travel. I was born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia but now live in Bangkok, Thailand, resulted from a chance encounter in 2009 with my why-are-you-Thai bf. I am now split between two countries. One country for my bf, another for the family, for the occasional weekend together.
