You Can’t Go Wrong With Outback Steakhouse
The thing about Outback Steakhouse is that it might not be the fanciest steakhouse in town, but it is one that we can rely on for a good piece of steak. Sometimes, that’s all that matters .. a good honest steak without the trimmings.

There is only one Outback Steakhouse in Bangkok Thailand, and it is conveniently located at 4th floor, in Siam Discovery. They were closed during the renovation of Siam Discovery for almost one year, and is newly reopened since 28 May, 2016.

All table receive a complimentary bread .. even though it’s just a bread, they do need to treat it with a little bit of ‘respect’ .. don’t u reckon? *chuckle*

Typhoon Bloom (269 baht + 7% VAT) – too much of a tangle-mangle onion rings for the two of us, and a tad oily for our liking. But, we order this everytime – note to self, NOT to order this again.

Kookabbura wings (229 baht + 7% VAT) – buffalo chicken wings, who can resist that? And it comes with celery sticks (not for me) and yipee! blue cheese salad dressings. Me love my stinky minky blue cheese! I love it more than I love the wings. By the way, you do know that buffalo wings are named as such, as it was named after the City of Buffalo, in New York, right?
When the first plate arrived, I was like oohh .. it comes with fried calamari! And I proceeded to munch the fried calamari, without giving it a second thought. Not long after, staff came back to our table, and we found out that it was wrongly delivered to us. Oops. Second plate returned, sans calamari. I was so cheekily-happy that I managed to gobble down two pieces of the calamari, before they took away the wrongly-delivered plate!

New York Strip Steak (1,099 baht + 7% VAT) – the one and only reason why we are at this Australia-themed-but-originated-from-US restaurant. I am guessing that the imperial method of ounces is used because they are an Australia themed restaurant. 10 oz. New York Strip is around 280 gram. The price of 1,099 baht is rather reasonable price. It comes with 2 sides, and we chose Aussie fries and baked potato.
It was a satisfying tummylicious meal for both of us.
We want to try the Outback Special next time: 6 oz 799 baht / 8 oz 899 baht, to add 7% VAT.
There were complaints about the lack of English in some the TripAdvisor reviews, but I was lucky to be attended by English speaking staff, both during phone reservation and at the restaurant itself. Yeah, I was the one who called to reserve a table. I was very proud of myself conversing in mainly Thai, and a bit of English, securing a table for us. Even though bf did most of the ordering at the restaurant, I appreciate that the staff spoke to me in English to reconfirm my drink order, and other little things.
Some also commented in TripAdvisor that their steaks were not cooked according to their preference. No issue with ours.
This is NOT a paid review … really, no complaints at all. We want a good steak, and they gave us just exactly that. I have only tried Outback Steakhouse in Malaysia, and I can’t remember how Malaysia fares .. so, no benchmark that I can possibly do.
Update Aug 2016:
Went back to Outback Steakhouse with bf, and tried their …

Victoria’s Fillet, with 2 sides (1,399 baht + 7% VAT) – 8 oz. tender and juicy thick cut fillet. I thought that the steak is under seasoned, but bf thought otherwise. Juicy and tender indeed, as described.

Baby Back Ribs, half portion, and served with Aussie fries (399 baht + 7% VAT) – Described as fall-off-the-bone ribs, succulent and saucy, grilled to perfection and brushed in a tangy BBQ sauce. No complaints here, they delivered what they say.
