A Life Between Two Countries, And All In Between

Dough Bros: Hand-roll Sourdough Pizza & Fresh Custard Donuts Hit the Spot in Bangkok

Dough Bros has been on my Bangkok food checklist ever since their highly anticipated opening at Gaysorn Amarin in July 2024. With endless food options in Thailand, it took me a while to get there, but discovering a branch at Summer Point in Phra Khanong finally sealed the deal!

Thailand is the second country after Hong Kong to welcome DOUGH BROS. Pizza & Doughnuts—a sign of how lucky we are to get international chains often before our neighbors. Even though we went with vegetarian options, the experience was absolutely fantastic.

A Relaxed Midday Meal

Visiting on a weekday afternoon meant we had the place mostly to ourselves. It was a joy to watch the chef, who seemed to be truly enjoying the process, meticulously preparing our food in the open kitchen. The atmosphere was calm and unhurried, and I always say food tastes better that way as the mood of the chef is translated to the food.

We ordered the 10″ Vegetarian Pesto Pizza (350 baht, regular size), loaded with tomato, pesto, mozzarella, sundried tomato, roasted peppers, mushroom, baby spinach, and parmesan. The sourdough base provided a wonderful tang and chew – and sourdough pizza is always a win in my book. The pizza came with their signature garlic & herb dip, which, as my niece explained, harks back to the American style of pizza dipping, perfectly blending Italian origins with an American twist.

We also gave a big thumbs-up to the side dishes: the Fire Roasted Mixed Bell Peppers and the Grilled Corn Ribs.

The Freshly Filled Doughnut Finale

For dessert, we opted for one Vanilla Custard Doughnut. Since we weren’t asked, we received the standard sugar coating, but the experience was anything but regular! Served piping hot after our mains, watching the chef fill the donut with fresh custard right on the spot—a true delight of the open kitchen—made it special.

In the time we were there, only one other couple stopped by, and they were purely there for doughnut takeaways! That’s a testament to the quality of their sweet treats.

I can highly recommend Dough Bros for a superb sourdough pizza experience and a fresh, hot filled doughnut.

Not Your Typical Tourist

Travel opens up a whole new world, which is cliche but true. I am a strong advocate for independent and solo travel. I was born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia but now live in Bangkok, Thailand, resulted from a chance encounter in 2009 with my why-are-you-Thai bf. I am now split between two countries. One country for my bf, another for the family, for the occasional weekend together.
