Covid RT-PCR test at MedConsult Clinic

MedConsult Clinic was recommended by fellow Malaysians for “reliable” fast turnaround-time RT-PCR test at an affordable cost. I couldn’t agree more – a negative pre-departure PCR-test result 48 hours before flight is a mandate for flight to Malaysia; timeliness matters! It was just a 5-minute process, and the test-result reached my inbox within 8 hours – what’s not too like? 1,500 baht (approx RM 190) is a steal for the prerequisite RT-PCR certificate for my flight home.

The clinic is located at 3rd floor of Building 2, The Racquet Club (RQ). I used RQ’s hourly free shuttle service – managed to catch the 8.15am service from Emquartier and it took approx. 5 minutes to RQ.

I booked 9am slot on their website here, but arriving earlier is not an issue. It was not that crowded when I arrive – given staff’ efficiency, people come and people go with bare minimum waiting time. Making appointment is good as I have already provided passport details in advance. Seeing ton of appointment slips, I found mine and then took it to payment counter and paid with credit card. They DO NOT accept any pre-payment; all payment at the clinic. After payment, I was directed to a room for specimen collection. The MedConsult’s RT-PCR test uses nasopharyngeal and throat swab for specimen collection method – they did the throat swab first, then the nasopharyngeal swab …. efficient and painless.

I was told that I’ll receive the result via email in the evening .. but it arrived 4pm+ and I was also given the option to print Fit to Fly certificate FOC. Malaysia Airlines told my friend that Fit to Fly medical certificate is required, but it wasn’t used at all – only the RT-PCR report was required.
