Conkey’s Bakery: My Fortunate Find – A Hidden Gem in Ekkamai

My recent errands in Ekkamai had become a routine, and I decided to inject some joy into the daily grind by exploring nearby eateries on foot. That’s how a serendipitous Google Maps search led me to Conkey’s Bakery. The 1.6km walk, winding around the Ekkamai alleys and down to Sukhumvit 71 Road, felt longer than expected – but absolutely worth it. Not only do they carry sourdough goodies, but also a full range of bread, pastries, desserts, croissants, and even meatballs and sourdough croissants on the menu.

Online reviews raved about Conkey’s, though some noted the prices. However, having experienced their offerings, I find the pricing fair, especially for artisanal, mostly handmade baked goods. My first trip was a takeaway feast: a sourdough fig and walnut loaf (280 baht), a sourdough croissant (120 baht), and a delightful apple pie (90 baht). I was instantly hooked!

Since then, I’ve returned twice with my niece, including a lunch visit where I indulged in a slice of their mushroom cheese pizza (120 baht) and an onion & feta cheese focaccia (120 baht). Each bite reaffirmed my joy – Conkey’s Bakery truly delivers.
While writing this post, I stumbled upon a fascinating Thai video interview detailing Conkey’s history here. Being in the advertising industry, I found it particularly relatable to learn that the property was once a post-production house, now beautifully transformed into this charming bakery. Equally inspiring is the story of P’Joe, who rose from a dishwasher to a master baker and from Thailand province to US and Australia with his skill.
The interview also revealed a secret behind one of my ongoing obsessions: their brioche buns! I’ve been fixated on them since day one, and now I know why. Conkey’s supplies many restaurants nationwide, including popular burger spots like Daniel Thaiger. This revelation has definitely cemented my plans for a homemade burger feast soon!

During my lunch outing, I even bumped into a friend taking a breather in Conkey’s calming green oasis. Their outdoor garden setting offers a perfect spot for dining and unwinding. Conkey’s has quickly become one of my absolute favorite hidden finds. I also appreciate their thoughtful touches, like providing free bottled water and food for delivery riders and offering organic products such as cherry tomatoes and salad vegetables for sale.
Surprisingly, their prices on delivery apps are exactly the same as their walk-in prices, so don’t hesitate to order – you won’t regret it!

Dear Michael,
Wow, this is truly incredible! Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog post and for your incredibly kind words. I’ve never received such direct feedback from an owner before, and I’m genuinely touched and honored that my post resonated so well with your vision for the bakery.
It’s funny you mention it – I just made my last trip yesterday and finally got my hands on that brioche bun I’ve been craving! Regrettably, my regular errands in the area have concluded, so it might be a little while until my next in-person visit. But rest assured, when I’m back in the neighborhood, I will absolutely come around and say hello.
Thank you again for your wonderful message – it means a lot to me. I truly love what you’ve created with Conkey’s Bakery. Kudos to you and your amazing team!
