Not Your Typical Tourist

A Life Between Two Countries, And All In Between

Malaysia

Skybus 1 Utama to KLIA2

It’s yet another trip to Bangkok, and I’ve opted to travel to KlIA2 via Skybus from 1 Utama.

RM 13.90 add-on purchase to AA flight

I added Skybus trip to my AirAsia flight booking, and paid RM 13.90 (instead of RM 15.00 at ticket counter).

At Skybus terminus at 1 Utama, I went to the ticket counter to show my itinerary (which indicates ticket paid). But, I was told to board the bus. That’s what I usually do anyway, but …

On my last trip, I was asked to get down from the bus, walk to the counter for their staff to check my itinerary. I was also questioned on my flight departure time.

Since I fly regularly, sometimes I would opt to arrive at the airport less than 2 hours before flight departure time. Cutting it to too thin, I know. But it happens when I am pressed for time.

Advisable to take the bus 3-4 hours before flight

Note that passengers are advised to take the bus at least 3 to 4 hours prior to flight departure time.

Interior of the bus

I was the first passenger on board. With plenty of time in hand, I took stock of the the bus conditions. Has the bus always be in such condition?

So unsightly

The bus seat back pocket net has been pulled apart, probably to avoid passengers storing their rubbish; save on cleaning works.

So much dusts!

These are dusts, no?

Because of the missing pocket net, my  eyes were drawn to the amount of dusts.

Have we Malaysians become so accustomed with the (poor) quality of our public transportation? Just like the cracked windows on our Komuter trains here. Are we sooo cincai that service providers can get away with things?

The bus journey itself was pleasant. I got one of Skybus’ regular drivers, and he’s a safe and considerate driver.

Update 24 March 2016:

Brand new bus! W00t!!
Brand new bus! W00t!!

Wow! Skybus 1 Utama got new bus, unbelieveable! The driver confirmed that it’s brand new, for less than 1 week. He said 2 out of 3 buses are new, and they are waiting for the remaining 1 bus to be delivered / ready.

Not Your Typical Tourist

Travel opens up a whole new world, which is cliche but true. I am a strong advocate for independent and solo travel. I was born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia but now live in Bangkok, Thailand, resulted from a chance encounter in 2009 with my why-are-you-Thai bf. I am now split between two countries. One country for my bf, another for the family, for the occasional weekend together.
