Here’s A Toast To All The Skaters At The Malaysia National Competitions

I am glad to make acquaintances with the Figure Skating sports. Figure skating is an elegance sports, in which skaters perform on ice: jumps, spins, jumps, and there are also other elements in their program. Imagine dancers, but on ice.

The 11th Malaysian Open National Figure Skating Championship just took place on April 15th and 16th, 2016 at the Olympic-sized ice skating rink at Icescape Ice Rink, at IOI Resort City, Putrajaya.

I am not a stranger to the Malaysia National Competition, as a spectator, of course. I don’t have hidden talent, just in case you’re wondering. I attended last year’s competition and again, this year, to support my nieces. Only my younger niece competes this year.

Here’s to all the skaters, to your hard work and blood, sweat and tears. Each and everyone of you were full of elegance and grace, skating your heart out at the competition. You are all champions in our eyes. Hold your heads high.

Remember this:

“Champions do not become champions when they win the event. Sometimes, even if you lose, you win.”

and

“Doing what is right, fair and honorable is more important than winning or losing.” Chick Moorman

And also not forgetting their parents and family, for helping and encouraging their children, and for all the sacrifices they have made.

Not Your Typical Tourist

Travel opens up a whole new world, which is cliche but true. I am a strong advocate for independent and solo travel. I was born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia but now live in Bangkok, Thailand, resulted from a chance encounter in 2009 with my why-are-you-Thai bf. I am now split between two countries. One country for my bf, another for the family, for the occasional weekend together.
