Weird Thai Soup Made Of Shrimp Paste
Thailand is not just a tomyum land. Come to think of it, I have not had tomyum for such a long time.
I just tried ‘Gaeng liang goong sod‘ (แกงเลียงกุ้งสด) not long ago. It is a Thai spicy vegetable soup with prawns, and made of shrimp paste, southern style.
Shrimp paste soup sounds weird and yucky, but it was yummehlicious!
Blessed D for introducing a new Thai dish to me. It is always a risk, as I could be totally indifferent to a new dish, or fall over heads in love with it.
Do give it a try .. If you like Malaysia’s assam laksa soup texture, then you might like this soup too. Herby soup, with lots and lots of veges. Enjoy!
Heya, I stumbled upon this article U wrote & boy! it made me salivate!! May I ask where did you have this soup? Am going to BKK next week so I would like to go try this… Haha.
Hopefully, you read my comments and answered. Thanks 🙂
Hi Margaret,
I had the soup at a local restaurant in Chacheongsao province, 50km east of Bangkok.
I found the soup in Nara’s menu, Kang Leang (different spelling, but it’s the same soup):
