It was so heart wrenching when I found out that the NYCC New York Cheesecake (cafe) has ceased to exist at Crystal Design Center (CDC). You see .. there are many cheesecakes in Thailand, but they are all looks but no substance : cheesecake that doesn’t taste like one. Before someone bite my head off for being a cheesecake snob.. fine, everyone’s taste is different. But my tastebud says that NYCC New York Cheesecake is the to-die-for cheesecake in the Kingdom. Perhaps because it’s the real deal, all their cakes are freshly flown from New York.
And my oh my, they’re back! On NYCC Facebook here, they say there are four stalls located inside Central Departmental Store – either at Tops Supermarket or Central Food Hall:
- Tops Market Central Rama 9
- Central Food Hall CRYSTAL PARK
- Central Food Hall of Central Bangna
- Central Food Hall CentralFestival EastVille
Unlike the cafe at CDC, setting up at these locations mean takeaway business only ..
205 baht for a slice of New York Cheesecake, enough to feed 2 pax. Other cakes are cheaper (smaller too) at 120 baht: Red Velvet, Coconut Lemon, Carrot Cake, Fudge Layer and Cheese Pie and 165 baht: New York Cheesecake Truffle Cheese. There is a Buy 2 get 1 free promotion. They also sell whole cake: 2 Pound/0.9 kg New York Cheesecake (995 baht), 2.5 Pound/1.1 kg Coconut Lemon, Carrot Cake, etc (800 baht). Their menu is on their FB here, but the price is more expensive than what I saw at Tops Central Rama 9.
I didn’t buy any from my visit to Central Rama 9, so can’t say for sure if the quality is the same .. One can only hope.
Update June 2017:
Chanced upon the NYCC New York Cheesecake booth at Central Food Hall of Central Chidlom, and we were told that they have just been opened for 2 days!
Staff told us that the cake can be kept 3 days in the fridge compartment, and 2 weeks in the freezer compartment.
