The Good Old Traditional Herbal Soup At Jade Garden Restaurant
Jade Garden Restaurant at Blue Boy Mansion, Jalan Tong Shin, used to be one of my regular lunch place. We come here whenever my friends and I wanted healthy, nourishing herbal soup. Really, sometimes, I am more Chinese than I would have liked.
Looking for post natal nourishment soup, Jade Garden came to my mind. No, not for me lah, but for Stephy, one my ex-TFB-teammates. I am thankful and grateful that Amy, another ex-teammate, agreed to accompany me for my soup-run. She even paid for our meal! I am indeed blessed with my many fabuloso ex-teammates, some remain close long after my exit from this and that company.
Jade Garden’s super-kow Tonic Herbal Soup (RM 23.90): 10 herbs with black chicken, good to remedy Qi deficiency, post natal nourishment, fatigue, etc, is the star of this soup-run trip. I then had to deliver the soup, 17km away, to this new mommy.
As for dining in, I had their Moisture-removal Arrowroot Soup (RM 16.90): seven tonics with pork lean.
My dining companion ordered Nourishing Ginseng Soup (RM 18.90): four tonics with chicken.
They do not have a menu for dishes. The lady boss rattled off some dishes, and we just ordered one fried vege (sweet potato leaves) to go with our soup.
This hidden gem is still frequented by many diners when I was there. I guess there are not many restaurants with good old healthy-herbal soup in their menu.
Soup price has skyrocketed so much since my last visit, but it’s a price worth paying. Their soup menu has changed to a booklet-type, instead of A4 size. There are also less soup types offering, reduced from 11 to 9.
