Roti canai vs Farmer sourdough
It’s going to be a late dinner with D in Bangkok later. Our scheduled departure time is at 5pm, and arrival at 6pm (7pm Malaysia time).
I made a grocery bread-run to Tommy le Baker, with the intention of getting some breads for ZH’s light dinner on board. Also, might as well get their Roast Beef Sandwich for lunch. I thought I can kill two birds with one stone, or so I thought ….until the ‘stone’ toinked to the mamak next door.
I caved in to a local delight. My Roast Beef Sandwich turned into roti canai with kari ikan (fish curry) dippings, and a cup of teh tarik kurang manis (less sweet), a classic combination for me. Heavenlicious!
The thing about Malaysia cuisines is there are always something different to please our palete. Malay, Chinese, Indian, Nyonya, East Malaysians, Indigenous, and other foreign cuisines. Thai cuisines, there are less varieties vs. ours.
Roti (bread) is also available in Thailand, but it is too sweet and oily to my liking .. yukes, they even serve it with condensed milk and sugar. Sweetness overdose, avoid like the plague. Sweet-die-me!
that’s FRIED roti 🙂
Fried roti? Hahaha apa ni?
