RM 198 For 6 Days Parking At KLIA2

For the sake of ease and convenience, we parked our car at KLIA2 during our recent trip to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

RM 48/day for the first days, RM20/day from 4th day onwards
RM 46/day for the first 3 days, RM20/day from 4th day onwards

RM 198 for 6 days is definitely more expensive than other options, but less hassle was our motto.(Update Mar 2017: the parking rate is still the same. Do note that rate is based on 24 hours parking).

RM 50 note is accepted

RM 50 note is accepted for payment above RM 35, which comes useful for long-term parking.

Level CP4 entrance

We managed to find a spot at Level CP4, close to entrance. CP4 leads directly to gateway@KLIA2 to enter the shopping areas at Level 2. Not only that, there are also more traffics; safer and gives us peace of mind.

KLIA Transit from KLIA
KLIA Transit from KLIA

Returning from Kota Kinabalu, our (Malindo Air) flight landed at KLIA. We had to take KLIA Transit to collect our car, just a short 4-minute journey away. No, it’s not a free service like other countries .. Welcome to Malaysia, folks. We paid RM 2 for adult, and RM 1 for child fare, one-way.

These are other options which I’ve also considered:

  • Park at Putrajaya Sentral, the parking fee is capped at RM 6/day. Continue with KLIA Transit from Putrajaya & Cyberjaya station: adult RM 9.40 and child RM 4.20 one-way fare
  • Park at Long-term carpark (LTCP), at Block A of KLIA. Maximum parking period of four days at RM 144 with additional RM 15 per day. There is also a free shuttle, every 15 minutes, between the carpark and KLIA and KLIA2
  • Use GrabCar – currently there is a RM 65 one-way promotion, instead of RM 90, but limited to 4 passengers in a car
  • Rent a van with driver at RM 140 one-way (Update Feb 2017: We rented a 10-seater van with Mr Leong  010 2665155 for a group of 9 pax, from Kepong to KLIA2. We paid RM 180 from Kepong to KLIA2, and RM 150 from KLIA2 to Kepong. We paid additional RM 10 per way, for a second pick-up/drop-off in Kepong (5km away). Travel period: late Dec/early Jan travel)

Update Sept 2017:

Since many asked about the (confusing) parking at KLIA2, I’ve took some photos on my recent visit to the airport.

KLIA2 – Left (in green) to Departure, Right (in yellow) to Arrival
KLIA2 – Left to Departure, Right to Arrival
KLIA2 – left to Departure, right to Arrival

When you drive towards KLIA2, there’ll be signages – left to departure, and right to arrival. I will usually drive towards Arrival, as it’ll lead towards level CP4 of the main terminal.

KLIA2 parking floor directory

As mentioned above, CP4 leads directly to gateway@KLIA2 to enter the shopping areas at Level 2. If you park at other floors, use lift at the parking area and go to level CP4.

KLIA2 – Keep left to Arrival’s parking
KLIA2 – level 2 (parking CP4) map

There are 2 parking entrances – one to Block A, and another one to Block B. Both entrances access to level CP4 of car park.

KLIA2 – keep left and turn left to Block A’s parking entrance
KLIA2 – Block A’s parking entrance
KLIA2 – Block B’s parking entrance
KLIA2 Block A’s parking entrance – level CP4

After you turn right to Arrival, immediately keep left to access parking at Block A. If you miss this entrance (sometimes this entrance is closed too), you may use the outer lane and drive towards Block B’s entrance, located at the other end of Block A.

Also, do read about wheel clamping at KLIA2 here.

Not Your Typical Tourist

Travel opens up a whole new world, which is cliche but true. I am a strong advocate for independent and solo travel. I was born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia but now live in Bangkok, Thailand, resulted from a chance encounter in 2009 with my why-are-you-Thai bf. I am now split between two countries. One country for my bf, another for the family, for the occasional weekend together.

  • Hi, we are considering long term parking as well. Our Air Asia flight departs from KLIA2 (LCCT). Is the mall car park you used directly connected to the airport? As you mentioned you needed to take a shuttle to KLIA.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! 🙂

      Hi Jin,

      Yes, it is at KLIA2.
KLIA2’s parking facility is a 8-storey car park, close to gateway@KLIA2 mall, aka the shopping areas. To get to the Main Terminal building, you need to walk through Gateway@KLIA2 mall.

Nearing KLIA2 building, drive towards “Arrival” (instead of Departure), and you’ll arrive at Level CP4 (Level 4 of the car park). Try to park at this floor, if you manage to find a space. This is because CP4 is the exit level that bring you to Arrival floor at level 2. The Departure Hall is located at Level 3 of Main Terminal Building.

I mentioned a shuttle from KLIA, because on my return flight, my flight landed at KLIA (instead of KLIA2). In short, I departed from KLIA2, but arrived at KLIA. So, I had to take the ERL from KLIA back to KLIA2, to collect our car.

      Hope this helps.

      • I see. Thank you so much for the information! Fingers crossed we can find a parking space! 😆

          Good luck!
They are very good with wheel clamping; park at proper bay and do not park at reserved and hybrid parking spots.

            Hi,
Just to enquiries is Toyota Estima consider hybrid car?

          • Notyourtypicaltourist

            Yes, Jenny .. It’s a hybrid car

      • Bernard Lee

This is great info – THANKS

        • Notyourtypicaltourist

          Hi Bernard,

Glad that the info comes useful to you.

          Cheers.

  • Hi, I will be parking at KLIA2 parking for 6 days. If I pay by Touch n Go will it be charged extra? what’s the total cost for 6 days? Is it RM120 or RM168?
    Tq.

    • Notyourtypicaltourist

      Hi Lee,

The rate for 6 days parking is RM 198 [RM 46/day for the first day, RM20/day from 4th day onwards]. Do note that the rate is based on 24 hours parking. Example: If you leave your car at 6am, 1 day charge is based on 24-hour until the next day at 5.59am.

According to KLIA’s website here http://www.klia.com.my/?m=airport&c=getting_around&id=2, additional charge 10% will be imposed on top of the parking tier rate.

      Hope this helps.

  • Hi,

Would like to find out, in order to park at CP4, I have to drive thru the “Arrival”? Is there any sign showing where is the car park entrance once I reach the “Arrival”? Thank you very much.

    • Notyourtypicaltourist

      Hi Dom,

When you are within the vicinity of KLIA2, there will be directional signage pointing towards Departure and Arrival. Just follow the Arrival sign towards parking, and you will drive into Level CP4. If for whatever reason you reach other floors, just drive to CP4. It’s inter-linked inside the car park building – which means you’ll be able to drive from one floor to another.

Let me know if you need further clarifications.

      • Thank you for the info. Will try that.

  • Thanks for great info. Thinking to drive or take a cab to klia2, now decided to drive after reading your post. Will need to park for 5 days.

    • Notyourtypicaltourist

You’re welcome, Bryan .. safe journey!

  • Hi may I know which parking floor is nearest to departure hall (KLIA2)?
    Tq

    • Notyourtypicaltourist

      Hi Visha,

LEVEL 3 ( Departure ) is the same level as Car Park 7 (CP7).
However, you will not be able to access Departure floor from CP7. To get to the KLIA2 Main Terminal Building, you will need to first go to Car Park 4 (CP4), walk through gateway@klia2 mall (Level 2) and then head towards the terminal’s Departure area at Level 3. Therefore, it is still best to park at CP4.

      Hope this helps.

  • Kah Fai

    Hi,

I heard that management will clamp the car which park more than few days. is this valid?

    Thanks.

  • Kah Fai

Yes. That’s what I read too. I might be parking there for 9 days. When travelling back to KLIA2, it will be at 5am, if this happening to my car, I wish there is someone to release the wheel clamp. Do you think I need to explicitly inform management that I’m going to park there for 9 days?

    • Notyourtypicaltourist

      Hi Kah Fai,

As I know, security personnel operates 24 hours; I am sure that someone will be there to assist you. I did not see any parking management office as per se, so you might end up be talking to some guards on your dilemma. I found contact details here on KLIA2 website: http://gatewayklia2.com.my/contact.aspx?cat=7&cid=7 – you might want to give them a call for peace of mind.

FYI: My brother recently parked there – 5 full days, and didn’t experience wheel clamp.

Hope this helps. Otherwise, I’ll be heading to KLIA2 this Friday – if it’s before your travel date, let me know if you need help in asking the security personnel.

      • Notyourtypicaltourist

        Hi Kah Fai,

I approached Block A’s parking office, and was told that wheel clamp only happens on vehicles parked 5 days and above. The parking office at Block A is open 24 hours, but you can call the number on the notice, and they’ll be there within 5 minutes or so.

        Hope this helps.

  • how would parking mgmt know that the vehicles parked more than certain number of days ?

    • Notyourtypicaltourist

      Hi Malek,

I have no idea .. But in the condo I stay, security guards check all cars parked at our condo every night, and log the info in a book. So, I guess that could be it ..

  • Shigella

They display parking rate for 6 days. Why clamp cars park 5 days and above?

    • Notyourtypicaltourist

      Hi Shigella,

I have no idea … but interesting observation, I would say …
